From Jennifer Kyrnin, your Guide to Web Design / HTML
This week I am pleased to announce that I have completely overhauled and updated the free HTML class. It now includes HTML5 as well as HTML 4.01 and XHTML. Plus it is available as a daily email, weekly email, or online. If you or someone you know is looking to learn HTML, this free class is a great resource. I hope you enjoy it and find it valuable.

An online class can be a great way to learn web design. As well as the newly revamped HTML course, I offer several free classes here on this site. But there are lots of others to choose from. But how do you know if you're signing up for a good course or not? I have received the following reviews of online web design courses from other About.com readers that can help you choose the online class that is right for you:
three stars Lynda.com Online Web Design Classes
five stars Intro to CSS and XHTML from Ed2Go
five stars Online Dreamweaver Course

Free HTML Class
The Free HTML Class is now available online at the above link or via weekly and daily email messages. This course is 100% free and will teach you all you need to know about HTML to build web pages. You will also learn the most modern version of HTML, HTML5, as well as some CSS to help you make your pages look good.

The HSL Color Model in CSS3
CSS2 and CSS1 both use the RGB color model. But with CSS3 you can now use hue, saturation, and lightness (HSL) to describe your colors. Learn more about the HSL color model and how to use it with your CSS3 style sheets.

Don't Make Your Images Look Bad with Over Compression
A common mistake that novice web designers make is over compression of their images. This can result in artifacts and banding that make the images look bad. This article explains more about over compression and what you can do to stop it.
