From Jennifer Kyrnin, your Guide to Web Design / HTML
Welcome to September! This week I show you how to use a new feature of CSS3 to create multi-column layouts inside any of your block elements. Plus, I reviewed a book about HTML5 canvas that I really enjoyed. And Darla offers a quick overview of RDF triples for describing your XML.

A free class is a great way to learn new web design techiques. I have classes on HTML, Web Design, CSS, and even XML. Check out all the free web development classes offered on my site and other About.com sites.

CSS3 Makes Multi-Column Layouts a Snap
CSS3 makes it easy to convert any element on your page into a columned element. The new multi-column layout module is implemented in every modern browser except IE9, and as you'll see in the article, it's possible to detect IE and provide them an alternate layout. Learn how to write multi-column layouts with CSS3 using this article.

Book Review: HTML5 Canvas
This book is a great overview of the HTML5 CANVAS element and how you can use it to build games on web pages. It is fun to read and I really enjoyed trying out the different examples. If you want to learn all you can about the HTML5 CANVAS element, this book is a great place to start.

RDF Triples
RDF is another way to store microdata in your XML and web documents. Using RDF triples you can make your XML even more semantic, by defining exactly what each element is. RDF is made up of a group of three elements called a "triple." Darla explains how to use RDF triples in this article.

Poll: WYSIWYG or not?
