Converting colors to hex codes is not nearly as important as it once was. Do you still do it? Why or why not? There is also a discussion going on about making pages identical in every browser. How important is it to you?

Identical pages and browser support
The above poll sparked some comments about why it might be important for designs to look similar to each other in different browsers. I'm still curious why it is important that they look "identical."
